MLK Day- Professional Development workshop, January 15, 2007

On Martin Luther King Day, January 15, 2006, the Moorhead School District held a full day of professional development workshops for educators. The Human Rights Center staff presented two 2-hour workshops attended by 40 educators.Participants expressed their excitement and were enthusiastic about integrating a human rights framework into their existing curriculum. When asked which curriculum examples they might use in their own classroom, participants gave a wide range of responses. For instance, one participant cited the story-telling component as being particularly inspiring, and expressed interest in integrating it as a medium through which students can learn about each other's experiences. Many participants commented on the wide range of resources to which they now have access, were surprised by the extensive availability of materials, and looked forward to sharing this information with colleagues.
